Invitation à la Conférence internationale sur la pesée (ICW) 2026 à Kitakyushu, au Japon
Dear Colleagues and Partners,
We are delighted to invite you to the International Conference on Weighing (ICW) 2026, taking place from June 8–10, 2026, in Kitakyushu, Japan.
Following the great success of the inaugural ICW in Hamburg in 2023, we are pleased to announce that the next edition is now just two months away. We are honored to collaborate with the Japan Measuring Instruments Federation (JMIF), our dedicated host, who is committed to making ICW 2026 an outstanding and memorable experience for all participants.
While the 2023 conference focused on digitalization, ICW 2026 will spotlight innovative weighing solutions for a sustainable world, with contributions that support key UN Sustainable Development Goals, such as innovation, responsible production, and climate action. We believe that fostering innovation through trust in entrepreneurial creativity can drive both technological advancement and meaningful environmental impact.
As with the previous edition, the conference will feature parallel sessions covering legal, scientific, and applied metrology, offering a broad and inclusive platform for the global weighing community. The Kitakyushu International Conference Center, conveniently located near Fukuoka Airport and easily accessible via Japan’s high‑speed rail network from Tokyo, provides an ideal venue for our gathering.
We are also introducing new elements to the program:
- A poster session showcasing innovative approaches to sustainability, with active participation from students aiming to close the skills gap and make our sector more attractive to younger generations.
- A technical tour on Day 3, offering participants a unique opportunity to explore local innovations and industry practices. Further details will be announced soon.
We are especially proud to announce that Nobel Laureate Prof. Dr. Takaaki Kajita as well as Prof. Dr. Tshilidzi Marwala, Under‑Secretary‑General of the United Nations and Rector of the United Nations University, have confirmed their participation, further strengthening an already high‑level and internationally recognized speaker programme.
Registration will remain available until 22 May 2026, and we will continue to keep you informed of further developments.
We look forward to welcoming you to Kitakyushu for an inspiring and forward‑looking ICW 2026!
With best regards,
Naoko Yoshikawa and Samuel Schmidt
on behalf of the ICW Steering Committee
