Celebrating 70 Years of OIML – A Global Metrology Milestone

The 17th OIML-Conference and 60th-CIML Meeting in Paris brought together delegates from around the world to advance international cooperation in legal metrology. CECIP was delighted to participate with a delegation including: President Luis Cachón, LMG-President Karlheinz Banholzer, and Secretary General Samuel Schmidt.

The event began with a spectacular evening aboard the River Palace to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the OIML - a memorable start to three days of engaging discussions, meaningful exchanges and networking.

CECIP presented its latest report and actively promoted the upcoming International Conference of Weighing (ICW) 2026 in Kitakyushu, Japan, strengthening ties within the global metrology community.

The OIML Certification System (OIML-CS) is a key framework for manufacturers of weighing instruments. It enables:
- International recognition
- Less duplication in testing and certification
- Easier access to global markets
- Consistent quality through harmonized procedures

CECIP was pleased to be invited by CIML-President Bobjoseph Mathew and BIML-Director Anthony Donnellan, and appreciated the opportunity to contribute to this important international dialogue.

Together, we’re shaping the future of legal metrology.
